Welcome to Derby Future Planning Process!

Derby Public Schools has initiated a comprehensive study to strategically plan for the future of its students, schools and programs. Kicking off in February 2025, this in-depth review will examine enrollment trends, school capacity, programming needs and facility conditions (learn more through Strategy 5 of the Strategic Plan). The process will involve committee-led discussions, with periodic updates provided to the Board of Education.

This committee-driven process began in February 2025 and will conclude with a final Board-adopted plan in September 2026. The study will focus on key topics, including early learning opportunities, high school programming, special education and student activities/athletics. Community members will have opportunities to engage and provide feedback at Public Input Meetings on December 10-11, February 18-19 and April 22-23. Location, time and further details will be shared at a later date.

The goal is to ensure the district's resources, buildings, educational programs and staff, are used effectively to meet the needs of all students. Stay connected for more information on how to share your thoughts and ideas. At Derby Public Schools, we believe that when students, staff and communities feel heard, they feel connected, empowered and invested.
